***RAG RUG STUDY GROUP IS PARTICIPATING IN NEW YORK TEXTILE MONTH 2025 AT INDEX SPACE IN MANHATTAN***

On Saturday, September 20th we're giving a talk and hosting a workshop, come join us! You can register for the talk here, and the workshop here.

Rag Rug* Study Group is a research project that facilitates dialogue about textiles produced using worn, surplus, and discarded materials. It's a collaboration between New York-based artists and researchers Mariah Smith and Mae Colburn. We have a mailing list, host in-person events, and manage an online archive of the work we study.

We are inspired by the Rag Rug Study Group founded by artist, weaver, and educator Janet Meany in Minnesota. Learn more about Janet here and more about the Weavers Guild of Minnesota's Rag Rug Study Group here.
